'The War'
'I tried to engage him in pleasantries, rattling off meaningless conversation.
None of it seemed to draw any reaction. Finally, he spoke. "I met the War." He said simply.'
'I remember exactly what he said. He told me it had three faces. One to play the pipes of scrimshawed bone, one to scream its dying battle cry, and one that would not open its mouth, for when it did blood and soil flowed out like a waterfall.'
The Slaughter feels like the least prominent of the fears within the Magnus Archives, but definitely is one of the more vicious. Unlike the Hunt, which can be cunning and think, this is the fear of mindless violence, of senseless slaughter.
I really enjoyed getting to model the faces of the piper because they're vague enough that I can have some freedom with them.
